Gatheround: Stories of Atlanta
As Chief Curator of the Atlanta History Center's exhibition "Gatheround: Stories of Atlanta," Lee was charged to create a thought-provoking and engaging experience for visitors that would showcase the city's rich and diverse history. With a budget of $2.4 million, we developed an award-winning exhibition that challenged visitors’ historical preconceptions, featured frame-changing storytelling, and incorporated a range of interactive multimedia elements.
The exhibition was divided into several distinct areas, each focusing on a different era or aspect of Atlanta's history. From the early days of the city's founding to the modern-day, we aimed to explore the many different communities, cultures, and events that have shaped Atlanta's unique identity.
Our efforts were recognized with prestigious awards, including the Southeastern Museums Conference Gold (top place) Best Exhibition Over $1,000,000 and the Oral History Association Best Exhibition (nonprint project). These accolades underscore the impact and excellence of the "Gatheround: Stories of Atlanta" exhibition in capturing and presenting the multifaceted narrative of this dynamic city.
